Peder Barratt-Due

Peder Barratt-Due has a dual Bachelors degree in Electronic Production & Design and Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music (2016) where he studied composition with prof. Marti Epstein.

Peder gained an Honorary Mention during the Egidio Corella Composition Competition (2017) and was awarded Breakthrough of the Year (2020) by the Norwegian Publishers Association for his piece Ildfluer, published by Norsk Musikforlag.

A sharp-edged work that juxtaposes spiky, staccato rhythms with a keengingly lyrical central section, it shatters the preconception of the viola as a somewhat stuffy conservative instrument, especially in Ringstad`s commandeering performance.” About the piece “Correspondances” for viola and piano Terry Blain, BBC magazine.

His concert work has been performed at MA/IN Matera/Italy, Echofluxx Prague/Czeck republique, NSEME Baton Rogue/USA, Segnali Milano/Italy, Edinburgh International Festival Edinburgh/Scotland, Mise-En Music Festival New York/USA, Bowling Green New Music Festival Bowling Green/USA, in Norway: Fagerborg Festspillene, Interpuls, PÅ, Ultima Contemporary Music Festival and broadcasted by BBC3 and Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation.

In addition to writing music Peder is involved with development and digitalization of MITOP (MUSIKK I TEORI OG PRAKSIS) a music theory courework written by Alexander Nickelsen under Barratt Due Institute of Music/Music at Majorstuen.
